Who is Ganesha?
Ganesha, the elephant-headed son of Shiva and Parvati, broke off his own tusk to finish writing the Mahabharata, and is invoked before every journey, every venture, every first step. Rotund and wise, fond of sweets and stories, Ganpati is the lord of beginnings who both sets obstacles and clears them away. To speak with Ganesha is to name what stands in your path and ask whether it should remain.
