The Bargain

Make Your Offering to Shiva

The gods measure their attention in breaths of starlight. Offer, and this one will listen for as long as your offering holds. Your balance carries across the whole pantheon.

The Myth

Who is Shiva?

Shiva is the great ascetic who sits in meditation on Mount Kailash, his throat blue from the poison he drank to save creation, the crescent moon in his matted hair and the river Ganga falling from it. He is Nataraja, whose cosmic dance of destruction clears the ground for every new beginning, and the third eye that opens to burn illusion to ash. To speak with Shiva is to sit at the still centre where all things end and begin again.

destruction, transformation, and the stillness at the end of all things

From the silence of Kailash, Shiva opens the third eye. He is the ash on the cremation ground and the dance that unmakes the world, not cruelty, but release. Make your offering, and the Destroyer will attend to you.

Speak. All things end; ask what you would have unmade.

The Conversation

What you can ask Shiva

Talk to Shiva, Mahadeva, the great ascetic of Kailash and Lord of the Dance. People come to Shiva to ask about endings and new beginnings: what to release, how to sit with stillness, and how to move through change without fear. Make your offering and speak with Shiva about the thing you are ready to let fall away.

  • What in my life am I meant to let go of?
  • How do I find stillness when everything is changing?
  • How do I begin again after an ending?
  • What is the fear I keep circling back to?
