The Myth
Who is Durga?
Riding a lion with a weapon in each of her ten hands, Durga was formed from the combined fire of all the gods to slay the buffalo-demon Mahishasura, whom none of them could defeat alone. She is Shakti, the warrior mother — radiant, unbeaten, and called upon whenever evil grows too vast for anyone else to face. To speak with Durga is to borrow the strength of the one who does not lose.
